Gister kwamen we bij Lennard en toen had hij een beetje onrustige nacht achter de rug: had hij begin van de nacht een normale temp, 's morgens rond een uur of 5 had hij een temp van 39.9’C en daarbij kreeg hij ook meer aanvallen. Omdat Lennard nog steeds erg suf is willen de artsen nog een EEG laten maken, om er zeker van te zijn dat hij niet toch in een status is.

's Middags kwamen oma en Samantha bij hem kijken en hij reageerde vrijwel gelijk op oma. Jammer genoeg kwamen ze hem kort daarop halen voor de EEG en gingen oma en Sam weer naar huis. Voor het EEG werd Lennard met bed en al naar de box naast hem gereden. Daar is een internet aansluiting zodat de arts gelijk mee kan kijken. Ook nu bleef Lennard voornamelijk goed stil liggen, is toch heel wat want voor al die plakkertjes erop zitten ben je zo een half uur tot 3 kwartier verder. En dan begint het registreren pas!

Van zondag op maandag is 's nachts ook weer een longfoto gemaakt en na vergelijken met de foto van vorige week blijkt Lennard nu een longontsteking te hebben. In het weekend was al begonnen met een nieuwe anti-bioticum kuur maar nu via het infuus. Mocht deze aanslaan dan gaan ze misschien over op tabletten.

Lennard heeft vanmiddag een ander matras gekregen: een anti-decubitismatras om te voorkomen dat hij gaat . Ook is zijn Fenobarbital-spiegel gezakt tot 37.6 en dat is heel mooi. Hierdoor lijkt hij ook wat levendiger te worden. Om het omruilen van het bed wat makkelijker te maken, heeft Lennard ongeveer 5-10 minuten in zijn rolstoel gezeten. Was hij eerst wat onrustig aan het worden in bed, hierna lag hij totaal uitgevloerd weer in bed.

Het infuus is inmiddels gesneuveld en Lennard krijgt nu tabletten. De zuurstof is iets afgebouwd, maar hij kan nog niet zonder.

When we got to Lennard yesterday he'd had a testless night. At the beginning of the night he had a normal temperature, but round 5 o'clock it was 39.9’C and with that he also got more seizures. Because he's still drowsy the doctor wanted another EEG made, just to be sure he's not in a 'status epilepticus'.

Yesterday afternoon oma and Samantha came to see how Lennard was doing. He responded when oma came into his room! Unfortunately shortly after they arrived, the woman for the EEG came to get Lennard.
To get the EEG made Lennard was taken in his bed to the room next door, as there is an internet-connection, so the doctor can immediately see what the EEG shows.  Even now Lennard stayed perfectly still, despite the fact that it takes about half an hour till all the probes are stuck on his head. And only then starts the registration of the EEG!!

In the night from sunday to monday another lung x-ray was taken and after comparing it with the one from tuesday it shows that Lennard's got pneumonia in his right lung. As they allready started anti-biotics through the IV they hope it'll start to work soon. When all goes well he can take the antibiotics as tablets.

Lennard got another bed this afternoon: it has a special matras to help prevent bedsores. The level of the Fenobarbital in his blood has gone down and is now within normal limits. Because of this he seems to be more lively. To make the change of beds easier, Lennard sat in his wheelchair for a few minutes...after he was back in bed he was very tired.

In the meantime his IV-drip had to be taken out and the doctor said he can take the antibiotics as tablets, which is much nicer for him. Even though the extra O² is lowered, he still needs the support.
